BBC Strictly Come Dancing returns this autumn and the names of the celebrities taking part are now being unveiled
The names have only just been announced for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing – and there are still some celebrities left to be unveiled – but Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has already received a set-back.
The former footballer, who once played for Cardiff City, was among three contestants announced during an episode of The One Show earlier this week.
Among those confirmed so far are Love Island‘s Dani Dyer, Doctor Who‘s Alex Kingston and model Ellie Goldstein.
And while there are still three more left to complete the 2025 line-up, bookies are already placing odds on who will lift the famous Glitterball trophy – and it’s not good news for Jimmy.
According to Free Bets Casino, Dani is favourite to follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner – comedian Chris McCausland – with odds of 4/1 that she wiill triumph. Meanwhile, Jimmy is bottom of the list with odds of 25/1.

Hot on Dani’s heels, according to the bookies, is Ellie Goldstein, the ground-breaking model and influencer, whose inclusion has already been widely praised. She sits just behind Dani at 5/1.
YouTube sensation George Clarke, not to be confused with the TV property expert, has odds of 6/1 while the first contestant to be announced for 2025, Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, is placed at 8/1.
EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal, drag queen La Voix and The Apprentice’s Thomas Skinner are all listed at 12/1.
ER legend and Doctor Who star Alex Kingston has received odds of 16/1 while another sports star, former England rugby player Chris Robshaw, is just ahead of Jimmy with odds of 20/1.
Since the odds were dropped, more names have been added to the roster, including Neighbours legend Stefan Denis, and the final contestants completing the 2025 class are due to be announced on Friday, August 15.
The news comes as some of the stars were pictured on Thursday, August 14 arriving for their first day of rehearsals. They were all smiles as they looked ahead to day one, including Jimmy.
When it was announced he was taking part in Strictly, he said: “Swapping the pitch for the ballroom is certainly not something I’ve done before but I’m looking forward to tackling a fun challenge. Bring on a new type of footwork with hopefully no own goals.”
