Summer Walker attended the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Sunday (Sept. 7) with a new man by her side. Walking the red carpet in a fun, colorful outfit, the Atlanta star hit the star-studded event, feeding cotton candy and canoodling with her mystery date.
Entertainment Tonight’s Denny Directo asked the 29-year-old about her date and the extent of their relationship. In May, Summer Walker confirmed she and then-boyfriend Rico Recklezz had parted ways.
“Oh, this is my special friend,” explained the “Unloyal” performer. “Mind y’all business!”
Denny Directo then aimed his questions at her date, asking how they met, and he revealed it was through mutual friends in Los Angeles. Directo continued to ask Summer, “How long have you two been dating?” The R&B singer reminded the interviewer, “Mind yo business,” as she was ushered away.
Fans took to social media to share their opinion about the chart-topping musician’s surprise date.

The Grammy-nominated singer seemed to have enjoyed the night, as snapshots with Latto, Sabrina Carpenter, and Paris Hilton were included in her Instagram dump. Elsewhere in her conversation with Directo, Summer Walker shared how Pamela Anderson inspired her bright turquoise look.
“She had the same outfit in pink for her VMA look,” shared Summer, referencing Anderson’s 1999 moment at the award show. The full look included an oversized pink fuzzy hat, white corset, form-fitting blinged-out capri pants, and strappy heels.
Directo continued to push for more info from Summer Walker’s date, asking, “Does that make you Tommy Lee?”
