Surf’s up, or at least that’s what competitors in this weekend’s Super Girl Surf Festival in Jacksonville Beach are hoping for. The event, billed as the world’s largest female surf event, returns for the fourth time, with competition in the water and live music on the shore.
What is the Super Girl Surf Festival?
It’s a two-day professional surfing competition, but there will also be beach volleyball, beach lacrosse, skating, basketball, flag football, a vendors village and two days of live music.

The competition will be held Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 8-9, in the waters near the Jacksonville Beach Pier. The festival and concerts will be at Seawalk Pavilion.

Who is competing in the Super Girl Surf Festival?
The event is the only World Surf League WQS 3000 women’s event in the U.S., and competitors are trying to earn their way into the World Championships. Keala Tomoda-Bannert, Nora Liotta, Eweleiula Wong and Kirra Pinkerton, the top four finishers in 2023, are all in the field. Local competitors include Sophie Falzone, Kenzie Tily, Kate Perce and Lanea Mons. There will also be a longboard competition.

You can watch the competition anywhere from the beach or the pier. Competition starts at 8 a.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

Jacksonville Beach isn’t known for its big curls. The forecast calls for 1-2 foot waves.

In addition to the surfing, there will also be competitions in rollerblading, skateboarding, beach lacrosse, beach volleyball, beach soccer, beach flag football, three-on-three basketball and a 5K run, plus a Sunday cheer showcase, a mentoring station, a female art expo and a vendor village. Oh, and a bunch of free concerts to boot.

The Band Perry headlines Saturday night and the Plain White T’s on Sunday, but somebody will be on stage just about all day both days. All of the shows are free.
