Taylor Swift fans are on high alert as Swifties dissect not just the lyrics but also the visuals related to her new album, The Life of a Showgirl.
Following the release of her much-awaited album, many believe that it contains hidden messages. Among those speculations is the pop star’s fallout with Blake Lively.
On social media, fans are pointing out that her song “Cancelled” reveals the current status of her friendship with the actress.
The line “Good thing I like my friends canceled / I liked them cloaked Gucci and in scandal,” appears to be a nod to the Gossip Girl star, who was named the face of Gucci Premiere in 2012 and was also facing controversy related to her It Ends With Us co-star and director, Justin Baldoni.
However, apart from the line references, fans are pointing out that Swift’s album contains subtle clues to Lively.
In a post on X, it featured a side-by-side photo of the award-winning singer’s cover art for her album. This was also the image used on Spotify for “Cancelled.”
In the photos, the “Bad Blood” hitmaker sported a chunky diamond-studded bracelet reminiscent of Lively’s Lorraine Schwartz accessories, which she wore during the London premiere of It Ends with Us.
At the time, the actress stunned in a strapless gown from Tamara Ralph’s fall 2024 couture collection paired with a red feathered overcoat.
Besides this, the post also highlighted the dangling silver earrings that the 35-year-old singer-songwriter wore on her album cover — strikingly similar to the accessories that The Age of Adaline star showcased at the 2013 Met Gala while wearing a Gucci gown.
In the comment section, fans were convinced the song was about the controversial actress.
“It’s definitely about Blake – she’s a Gucci brand rep and there is a reference to “masked crusaders” (Ryan)” one wrote.
“Good thing I like my friends cancelled, I like them cloaked in Gucci and scandal,” feels even more iconic knowing this is about Blake,” a user said.
“I knew it was about Blake & not Ms. Maga Mahomes,” another echoed the same thought.
Others were impressed by how some Swifties have eagle eyes, spotting even the tiniest details.
“How did y’all even catch something like that?” one asked.
“Whaaaat good catch!” a commenter said.
On Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce’s podcast show New Heights, Swift revealed that her new album was born from “the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place” she had experienced.
