Sylvester Stallone has confessed to feeling “nervous” about sharing the screen with Samuel L. Jackson in Tulsa King.

The 79-year-old actor, who portrays Dwight ‘The General’ Manfredi in the drama series, admitted to some jitters upon learning that the Hollywood heavyweight, aged 76, had joined the cast.

He said, “When I heard that was gonna happen, I went, ‘Oh, this is gonna be a fist fight. This is gonna be a battle.’

“Like two boxers in a ring, and who is gonna throw the first punch? So you’re getting nervous because you’re dealing with serious competition.”

In Tulsa King, Jackson plays the role of assassin Russell Lee Washington Jr. , who is sent to take out Manfredi.

However, once the pair started filming together, Stallone found that working with the Pulp Fiction star was a breeze, reports the Mirror US.

Speaking to People, the Rocky legend said, “Once he walks in, he goes, ‘Hey, dude brother,’ and I went, ‘Oh, here it goes.’

“But now we’re good. Now we’re flowing. We could do a show called Tulsa King and Buddy. We just worked that well together.”

While Tulsa King is the first time Stallone and Jackson have shared the screen, the Rambo star revealed that they’ve been neighbors for many years.

He added, “We lived about a hundred yards away from each other for almost 30 years. Yet we didn’t – you know, we’re always working. So we never really saw each other, except at Planet Hollywood-type things or openings.”

Reflecting on their divergent career trajectories, Stallone noted that he and his fellow performer had reached a similar crossroads.

He elaborated, “I guess he got to the point that I did that he’s done pretty much everything. But at this age in life, you want to be a little bit more grounded, steady, have your own show so you develop this thing, really flesh it out instead of working someplace for 10 days or a gig here and there.”

Stallone also admitted to being taken aback by the trajectory his career had followed – one that saw him create iconic characters and win Academy Awards.

He confessed, “That journey – I wish I had been more aware. But you’re just trying to survive.

“You’re not even aware of the chaos around it, because I said, ‘I’ve got to do this.’ I told myself, ‘You’re probably not going to make it, but I don’t want you to have any damn regrets. You have to go 100 per cent, not 99.'”

This comes as Stallone expressed his joy after relocating from California to Florida. “I love it,” he exclaimed.

“First of all, the air always seems to be clean. We’re very, very near the water and that makes my wife incredibly happy. It makes me happy, and it’s just something about it. It’s just so lush.”

The actor, who studied drama at the University of Miami, stated that the environment aligns with his lifestyle.

“I went to college there for a couple of years. So, I’m not a stranger to the environment, but it fits my personality much better,” he shared.

The decision was showcased on Season 2 of his reality show The Family Stallone, where he and spouse Jennifer Flavin informed their daughters about departing Los Angeles.

“After long, hard consideration, your mother and I have decided, time to move on and leave the state of California permanently, and we’re going to go to Florida,” Stallone announced on the program.

Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis reacted to the announcement on X, posting, “Welcome to the Free State of Florida! In addition to respecting and protecting your God-given, constitutional right to be free, you can also buy toothpaste without having an armed guard in CVS unlock it for you.”

Stallone became part of an expanding roster of famous figures who have abandoned California in recent years, pointing to worries about living expenses.
