Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding is shaping up to be the pop culture event of the summer.
The couple is reportedly set to tie the knot over July 4 weekend, giving fans just enough time to debate every last detail — from the guest list and dress code to what may be the most important decision of all: their first dance song.
So we took the question to celebrities on red carpets and at events throughout the year: What should Taylor and Travis dance to when they take the floor as husband and wife?
Naturally, many stars argued that Swift should choose one of her own songs. “Love Story,” “Lover” and “The Alchemy” all received votes, while one Speak Now favorite quietly emerged as a sleeper hit. But as creator Anna Sitar pointed out, there’s one potential issue: A lot of Swift’s love songs were inspired by other relationships. Is dancing to one of them romantic — or just a little weird?
Others used the opportunity to nominate themselves. Paula Abdul and New Kids on the Block pitched their own hits. Teddy Swims offered perhaps the most sincere suggestion of the bunch. The Beaches, meanwhile, made a compelling case for a Sisqó classic that would certainly keep the dance floor moving — and the rumored 1,000 guests with their jaws on the floor.
Here are their picks.
Teddy Swims (singer)
“I think the best love song of all time is ‘L-O-V-E’ by Nat King Cole.”
New Kids on the Block (boy band)
“‘I’ll Be Loving You (Forever).’ Jordan Knight, backed up by the New Kids.”
Paula Abdul (singer)
“‘Forever Your Girl,’ of course.”
Diane Warren (songwriter)
“Definitely not ‘Un-break My Heart.'”
Bruno Tonioli (Dancing With the Stars judge)
“Pet Shop Boys’ version of ‘Always on my Mind.'”
Anna Sitar (creator)
“This is tough. Part of me thinks she should dance to her own music, but I also know her own music is based on other men. I really love ‘Enchanted.’ I’m a Speak Now girlie.”
Amaya Espinal (Love Island USA alum)
“It probably should be one of Taylor’s iconic songs. ‘Enchanted.'”
Kylie Cantrall (actor and singer)
“It has to be a Taylor song, duh. ‘Love Story.'”
Asante Madigral (creator)
“It definitely has to be a Taylor song. She needs to play herself. You can’t go wrong with ‘Love Story.'”
The Beaches (rock band)
“‘The Thong Song.’ Or ‘Shots’ by LMFAO.”
Dee Valladares (Survivor winner)
“It should be a Bad Bunny song.”
Eva Gutowski (creator)
“‘Get Low.’ I feel like they would dance to that song. I can totally see it.”
Scott Hoying and Mark Hoying (creative duo)
Scott: “You know what a really good one is? Meghan Trainor’s ‘Final Breath.'”
Mark: “You know what would be so on the nose? ‘Lover.’ Or a slowed-down version of ‘The Alchemy.'”
Liamani (singer)
“How crazy would it be if they danced to ‘Lover’? I would bawl my eyes out. I love Taylor so much.”
Steve Aoki (DJ)
“I’m more of a turn-up guy. My remix of ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ will get anyone jumping anywhere. Any country, any language. Everyone just goes crazy.”
Hudson Stone (singer-actor)
“Shouldn’t it be one of her songs? Anything from the Reputation album.”
Lisa Rinna (The Traitors star)
“Whatever their favorite song is — whatever moves them the most.”
