Taylor Swift Earns Nomination for Prestigious Award on Tuesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
2025 has been a relatively low-key year for worldwide superstar Taylor Swift.
After wrapping up her record-breaking “Eras Tour” in December 2024—a tour that spanned nearly two years and 23 countries—Swift has largely stayed out of the spotlight.
Though she’s been seen with her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, and briefly made headlines for regaining ownership of all her masters, she hasn’t released any new music this year nor announced any upcoming projects.
Still, her music’s global popularity continues to make waves. On Tuesday, she received a prestigious nomination for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards—an event where she holds the record for the most wins by a solo artist, with 30 awards.
The 35-year-old was nominated for “Artist of the Year,” according to the “Taylor Swift Museum.”
Fans reacted to the exciting news:
“They know even without releasing she’s artist of the year,” a fan said.
Someone else added, “period. she barely moved and still got the nominations.”
Another person wrote, “the best part of this: she didn’t even lift a finger.”
“She’s nominated for doing nothing???” One more fan commented.

Taylor Swift’s last VMA win came in 2024, when she took home “Video of the Year” for her hit collaboration with Post Malone, “Fortnight.”
It’s currently unknown whether Swift will attend this year’s ceremony, scheduled for Sept. 7. The date falls just two days after Travis Kelce’s first NFL game of the season, set for Sept. 5 in Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Given that Swift has been spotted at several Chiefs games over the past two years since they began dating, she could potentially attend the game.
