The menu at the new steakhouse in Kansas City from Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce features an Easter egg that Taylor Swift fans can appreciate.
Prime 1587, the restaurant named for the jersey numbers of the Kansas City Chiefs stars, has a drink on its menu called “The Alchemy.”
Taylor Swift fans speculated the beverage is a nod to Kelce’s pop star fiancée because that’s also the name of a song on Swift’s 2024 album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”
Mahomes confirmed the reference in an interview with Kansas City’s “The Drive” radio show on Sept. 10.
“I’m not a big liquor drinker myself, but from everybody I’ve heard it’s a really good drink, and obviously (we) wanted to have an ode to Taylor and how important she is, not only to us but to this city as well,” the Chiefs superstar quarterback said.
He predicted the drink will be a “bestseller” at the restaurant, which is set to open Sept. 17.
“I think people will be super excited to get it, and it has the theatrics and stuff like that people will love, but it’s also a really good drink as well,” Mahomes said.
The drink is made from clarified citrus vodka blend, dry curaçao, aronia berry, cranberry, strawberry, lime and oolong tea, according to People.
The steakhouse was created in a partnership between Kelce and Mahomes and the Noble 33 restaurant group.
“It’s been really cool, just to have something in Kansas City that you can call your own and try to do something to give back to the community in any way,” Mahomes said. “We’re super excited about the steakhouse and the restaurant, and the hope is that it will be here long term, and a lot of people will get to enjoy it.”
Here are five things to know about Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The three-time Super Bowl champ said his favorite item on the menu is the Big Red, a smashburger named in honor of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, who got the nickname for being a redhead when he was younger.
“You know a smashburger by Coach Reid, it’s hard to miss,” Mahomes said.
Other cocktail offerings include drinks named “Showtime,” “Big Yeti” and “Queen B,” according to People. The “Queen B,” a lychee and honey vodka drink, is a nod to Mahomes’ wife, Brittany.
Brittany Mahomes shared on Instagram on Sept. 2 that she celebrated her birthday with Swift and friends in Nashville, Tennessee, complete with some lychee martinis.
During a recent appearance on the “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast, the former Philadelphia Eagles player praised his brother’s relationship with the pop star before acknowledging that he’s unsure if he’ll be the best man.
