Taylor Swift fans have proudly dubbed her the music industry ever since the late Barbara Walters famously coined the phrase in 2014.
The 35-year-old megastar’s latest accomplishment with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) further adds to the validity of their praise.
Swift has become the first and only female artist in history to sell more than 100 million RIAA-certified album units.
On September 30, the RIAA Awards Instagram account shared the record-breaking news, captioning the post, “Congrats to @taylorswift on becoming the first and only female artist in history to surpass 100 million RIAA Certified Album Units!”
Fans React to Swift’s Newest History-Making Title
Fans have not taken the RIAA’s news lightly, taking to the comments to celebrate Swift’s recent accomplishment (of many).
“First and ONLY i know that’s right,” one wrote.
“THAT IS OUR SHOWGIRL,” another said, referencing the music legend’s upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl.

The popular Taylor Nation Instagram account—run by Swift’s team—commented, “WOW.”
When is Taylor Swift Releasing ‘The Life of a Showgirl’?
Swift is releasing her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on Friday, October 3.
The superstar announced the project—which notably includes a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter—on August 12, the day before her viral August 13 guest appearance on Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce’sNew Heights podcast.
