The Life of a Showgirl artist discussed her track “Wi$h Li$t,” in which she lays out her dream of having a true partner and a family. She sings in the chorus, “I just want you / Have a couple kids / Got the whole block looking like you.” In the third verse, she adds, “I made wishes on all of the stars / Please, God, bring me a best friend who I think is hot / I thought I had it right, once, twice, but I did not / You caught me off my guard / I hope get what I want (Get what I want).”
Swift admitted that before she started dating Kelce, she questioned whether she could genuinely want those things. But the more they connected, the more she realized she really could fantasize about that future, because it felt possible with him.
She explained, “When I met Travis, I started to feel a little bit like I could be a person who could have romantic whims and have these dreams.” She continued that verses in the song “Wi$h Li$t” “were so fun and funny to write—but it gets very sincere in the chorus.”
Swift added, “I don’t know if you’ve seen the movie Happy Gilmore, but he has this happy place where he goes into this utopia of this is exactly what he would want, and this is where he escapes to mentally in times of stress, pressure, anxiety, or chaos. And that chorus of that song is me just describing what my happy place is.” (Fun fact: Kelce had a role in Happy Gilmore 2, which Swift raved about on Instagram.)
The star has spoken quite a bit about her fiancé in interviews this past week. She told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show last night, “He’s just my favorite person I’ve ever met—no offense to everyone else. But the fact that this is the person that I get to hang out with every day forever is just like, that’s the whole thing. You look at that [engagement ring], and you’re like, ‘I’m going to hang out with him forever, and this represents that.’”
