During Taylor Swift’s nearly two-hour appearance on Travis and Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast, she revealed a lot about her life in the past few years, and details about her new album, The Life of a Showgirl. What caught our attention, however, was when she discussed meeting Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte backstage at the Eras Tour in London last summer.
As the Kelces and Swift discussed the time Travis appeared on stage with her, Swift said, “Wasn’t this the week I got to watch Jason meet the royal family?” continuing, “I knew you were serious when I was like, ‘Jason, do you wanna go meet…’” and Travis chimes in, “He was like, ‘What do I do with my beer?’”
Swift then continues, pretending to hold a beer can, “I watched him have this moment with his beer where he was like, ‘But I want to take it, but I know that I probably should not take it,’ I watched this happen, and it kind of was the most amazing…”
Jason replies, “I like that you picked up on it because that was exactly what was going through my head… Is it disrespectful to have a beer when you meet royalty?”
Swift adds, pretending to voice Jason’s thoughts, “Or am I just being authentic by having a beer? I would normally have the beer, wouldn’t they want me to be myself?” She continues, telling Jason, “I’m watching you say that in your head, and it was fantastic. I don’t know, I’ll always remember that.”
Back in June 2024, shortly after the meeting happened, the Kelces discussed the moment on their podcast. “I got to meet Prince William!” Travis said. “Dude, he was the coolest motherf*cker—he was so cool.” Jason added, “Dude, he was so awesome. He’s a good dude.”
Travis said Prince William “was there with little George, and Charlotte. They were an absolute delight to meet. Wasn’t sure if I was supposed to bow to them, curtsy, just be an American idiot and shake their hands, like, ‘Sup, dude.’” Jason conintues, “We did get warning, because honestly we didn’t know the actual [protocol]—but because we weren’t at an official royal event, we didn’t have to bow or curtsy. If it would’ve been an official meeting of royalty event, it would’ve been that. But still address him as ‘Your Royal Highness.’”
Travis says to his brother, “I’ve never seen you give someone that much respect. You put your beer, like, ten feet away from you.”
Princess Charlotte was the favorite member of the royal family that the Kelces met, they said on their podcast. “I gotta say, Prince William was fantastic, but the highlight was Princess Charlotte. Prince George was great too,” Jason said at the time. Charlotte “was so f*cking adorable. I cannot express how—maybe because I have three girls now, [but] she had a fire to her! She was asking questions. That was the most electric part.” Travis agreed with Jason, saying Princess Charlotte “was a superstar!”
