U.S. ski racer Breezy Johnson’s boyfriend proposed to her at the end of her women’s Super-G run at the Winter Olympics today.
He incorporated a Taylor Swift lyric into his proposal, and Johnson of course said yes.

Team USA alpine ski racer Breezy Johnson already won a gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics. But as she ended her women’s Super-G run in Cortina D’Ampezzo, Italy, today, she had another surprise milestone awaiting her: her boyfriend Connor Watkins’s proposal.
Today captured video of the moment, which featured a Taylor Swift twist. Watkins popped the question with a ring and a piece of wood featuring a lyric from Swift’s song, “The Alchemy”: “Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?”
Swift took notice—and left Johnson a comment on the Instagram, where the skier shared her engagement news.
Johnson wrote, “Hey guys… meet Connor! My ex boyfriend! And current fiancé!!! 💍 Thank you to everyone who made this moment possible. It was everything I ever dreamed of. Kind of like Connor!”
Swift referenced another lyric from the Tortured Poets Department song in her comment, writing, “‘Where’s the trophy? He just comes running over to me’ CONGRATULATIONS!!!”
Johnson shared a screenshot of it on her Instagram Story, writing, “I am deaddddddd.”
In an interview with NBC News, Watkins said his proposal was over a year in the making and that it went “above and beyond our wildest imagination.”
Johnson added that she “may have told him that I just always kind of had the dream of getting engaged at the Olympics.”
The Swift comment is a sweet bonus, though it isn’t the singer’s first time supporting an Olympian during the Games. She shared a video message to all the athletes during the opening ceremony, saying:
Hi, it’s Taylor. I just wanted to send a message to all the athletes that are competing in the Olympics. I just wanted to say thank you—getting to learn your stories and see everything that you’ve sacrificed and all your determination and hard work and passion and everything that’s gotten you to this point where you’re so excellent at something, it’s just really inspiring. And I am very grateful for everything you’ve done to get to this point in life, and grateful that you’ve brought us all along with you on this journey so we get to watch you do this.
And I just hope that you have a wonderful Olympic Games, wishing you all the best of luck and a safe journey, and I hope that this is an experience that you will cherish for the rest of your life. Bye.
