Taylor Swift ‘secretly meets’ Kate Middleton’s wedding dress designer in London – and the other runners and riders to design her gown revealed

She famously sang the lyrics ‘Burton to my Taylor’ on her Reputation ‘revenge’ album, referring to the romance between Hollywood stars Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor.

But Taylor Swift may have inadvertently predicted her own future with the hit track, ‘Ready For It’, back in 2017 – as speculation mounts that a British designer could be behind the wedding dress for the singer’s upcoming nuptials to NFL star Travis Kelce. 

Last month, the popstar, 35, was rumoured to have travelled to London to film the music video for Elizabeth Taylor from her most recent album, The Life Of A Showgirl – with word on the grapevine being that she met with Sarah Burton, the creative director of Givenchy. 

An anonymous, and unverified, source told celebrity gossip website Deuxmoi: ‘The most talked about bride to be will be wearing Givenchy by Sarah Burton to her wedding.’

It was submitted under the pseudonym ‘Tailor’ and with the subject line ‘Loverrrrrr’, the name of the singer’s seventh studio album, released in 2019. 

Burton, of course, was the designer behind the Princess of Wales‘s 2011 wedding dress – complete with an 8ft-long train – when she married Prince William, in her then-position at the helm of Alexander McQueen. 

She is known for her exquisite tailoring, immaculate embroidery and edgy silhouettes, with Kate selecting the brand ‘for the beauty of its craftsmanship and its respect for traditional workmanship and the technical construction of clothing’. 

But Burton, 51, won’t be the only candidate up to the job – and Taylor has previously shown favour for designers including Oscar de la Renta, Vivienne Westwood and Donatella Versace on her worldwide Eras Tour.

De la Renta has been behind some of her most famous red carpet and event looks, including a gorgeous pale blue gown worn to the premiere of the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert movie in 2023. 

At the Grammys in 2024, meanwhile, Taylor wore a corseted ivory Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown with dark velvet gloves.

Significantly, her most famous look from the blockbuster Eras Tour was a custom Atelier Versace Lover bodysuit, adorned with pink and blue jewels, worn to open the show with ‘Miss Americana And The Heartbreak Prince’.

But when Taylor stepped out in a more bridal-inspired look, it was the work of Westwood.

When she debuted the additional Tortured Poets Department set in Paris 2024, the songstress wore a draped corseted gown from the brand, embellished with the lyrics ‘I love you, it’s ruining my life’ from her song Fortnight. 

In Milan, the dress was corseted in white taffeta and embellished with black crystals spelling out the lyrics: ‘Who’s afraid of little old me? You should be…’ 

The tour was a spectrum of colours, each representing a different ‘era’ from her 12 studio albums.

‘He’s been a staple for her on the red carpet for the last decade, including her iconic ombré dress for the Grammys in 2015 and even designed gowns for her Eras tour,’ Liz Teich of the New York Stylish told the Daily Mail previously. 

However, Taylor also loves to support a smaller brand, as she did with her old-mine diamond engagement ring, which was made by jewelry designer Kindred Lubeck. 

‘I’d love to see her and her stylist, Joseph Cassell Falconer, go with one of the up-and-coming designers she loves, especially the bridal designer Nicole + Felicia Couture,’ Teich shared. 

‘She seems to be loyal to the designers she works with and to support a smaller brand would be so meaningful from such a megastar,’ Teich continued. 

‘I can see them designing something even more epic than the gown with over 200,000 hand-sewn crystals and sequins that they made for her tour.’ 

Could Taylor choose an American designer? Perhaps her engagement shoot could be a hint – as she and Travis matched in Ralph Lauren, with the Cruel Summer hitmaker sporting a $400 silk blend striped dress from the brand. 

The singer has been seen in wedding and bridal-style gowns before, filmed across various music videos over the years – all of which could hold clues about the chosen designer.

The fast-paced storyline followed the Love Story singer crashing the wedding of her ex-boyfriend, played by Miles Teller, before turning everything red in revenge.  

The Nicole and Felicia wedding dress featured a train covered in 2,500 flower appliques, with designers working around the clock to complete it in time. 

Most recently, in The Fate Of Ophelia (2025), Swift wore an ivory gown by Alberta Ferretti, featuring floor-length sleeves and a tiered hem. 

The couple are rumoured to be getting married in the summer, with multiple sources telling PageSix this week that one potential date could be June 13, 2026. 

Taylor, however, has so far remained tight-lipped about the nuptials after Travis popped the question in August.

In an interview on Heart Radio to celebrate the release of Showgirl, she admitted: ‘You would think that I had been the type of person who would have obsessed over the idea of a wedding my whole life, but I actually never thought about what I would ever do or what I would want until I met the person.

‘So I haven’t even thought about that, doing a hen do. This is the first time I have thought about that.’

However, she said she’s ‘really excited’ for what’s in store – and if her past looks are anything to go by, the dress will certainly be one to remember.
