Taylor Swift Storms Back to No. 1 on Both U.K. Albums and Singles Charts

Taylor Swift has regained the top spots on both the U.K.’s Official Albums and Singles Chart in a stunning comeback for The Life of a Showgirl and its lead single “The Fate of Ophelia” on Friday (Nov. 14).

The LP and its lead single first shot to No. 1 on the U.K. charts dated Oct. 10, and held the spot for three consecutive weeks on its respective charts. Now both have returned to the No. 1 spots to gain fourth weeks at the summit, dethroning Florence + The Machine on the LPs chart, and KPop Demon Hunters’ “Golden” on the Singles Chart after a two-week absence.

“The Fate of Ophelia” is Swift’s longest-running No. 1 single since “Anti-Hero” from 2022’s Midnights earned six weeks at No. 1; “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version)” (2023) and “Fortnight” (2024) lasted just a single week each.

The Life of a Showgirl is her 14th U.K. No. 1 album, and Swift boasts the most No. 1s on the U.K. Albums Charts for an international artist, and ties for second overall with The Rolling Stones (14). The top spot is also currently a tie between the Beatles and Robbie Williams who both have 15 apiece.

Elsewhere on the Official Albums Chart, Rosalía becomes the highest-charting Spanish female artist ever following the success of her third LP LUX (No. 4). The recent Billboard cover star’s MOTOMAMI (2022) previously peaked on the Albums Chart at No. 42.

Olivia Dean’s The Art of Loving lifts two places (No. 2) while Lily Allen’s West End Girl drops one position (No. 3). Sabrina Carpenter’s Man’s Best Friend wraps up an all-female top five (No. 5), while there are new entries for Hayley Williams with her new solo project Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party (No. 10) and Paul McCartney’s Wings with a new self-titled compilation LP (No. 12).

On the Singles Chart, HUNTR/X’s “Golden” falls just one place to No. 2, having spent a non-consecutive 10 weeks at the top position. RAYE stays put at No. 3 with “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!” while Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need” lifts to No. 4. The latter is present in the top 10 twice more with “So Easy (To Fall In Love With Me)” at No. 5, and Sam Fender collaboration “Rein Me In” up to No. 8.

It’s also big week for a number of rising British stars with Sienna Spiro (“Die On This Hill”, No. 13), Skye Newman (“FU & UF”, No. 16) and EsDeeKid (“Phantom”, No. 17) all making their mark on the charts.
