Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will not be building a castle inside Madison Square Garden for their expected wedding this weekend
Exclusive sources tell PEOPLE that the two are “absolutely not” including a castle as part of their wedding decor
However, one source adds that it still looks “very special” inside
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding is beginning to take shape — but the two aren’t building a castle inside Madison Square Garden, contrary to some reports.
Insiders tell PEOPLE that although the iconic New York City venue looks “transformed,” the famous couple, who is expected to tie the knot imminently, is not building a castle inside.
“Not a castle but it looks very special,” one source tells PEOPLE exclusively. “They have grass, carpets and canopies, and it looks like a place where you’d get married. There’s a stage set up, but it’s special.”
A second source confirmed that Swift and Kelce will not have a castle inside MSG. “Absolutely not,” they say. “There’s no castle being built. Not at all.”

On Wednesday, July 1, another source told PEOPLE that MSG looks “transformed” after staff worked through the night to set up the upcoming event. They added, “I’ve never seen it look so different.”
On Monday, June 29, multiple trucks were spotted outside MSG with workers loading equipment, grass and other decorations into the venue.
There were even a few black equipment boxes that were seen, including one that was labeled “Garden Party” in purple. Another box, larger and wider than the rest, read “Mirror Ball.”

Then on Tuesday, June 30, workers were seen putting down red carpet at MSG, per a video posted by Deuxmoi. The stairs leading into the south entrance were covered in the red velvet rug as staff continued to prepare for the event. The carpet was later removed, according to Page Six.
Earlier in June, The New York Times reported that the “Fate of Ophelia” singer has rented the arena for a multi-day event, and a City Hall representative later confirmed to PEOPLE that a permit has been filed through the City Street Activity Office to shut down the area around MSG.
According to The New York Times, Kelce and Swift’s plans allegedly include a smaller gathering of about 100 people on July 2, followed by a larger celebration with roughly 1,000 guests on July 3.
Although many details still remain unknown about Swift and Kelce’s upcoming nuptials, multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE that the dress code for the Big Apple bash is black tie. The insiders also shared that they’d be adhering to a strict no-phones policy.
“Guests have been told there will be a phone check upon arrival,” one source shared.

According to city permits, between 500 to 999 people are expected to attend the celebration. Some stars — including George Kittle, Andy Reid, Graham Norton and Suki Waterhouse — have outright confirmed they’ll watch Swift and Kelce walk down the aisle. Other celebrities expected to attend include: Ed Sheeran, Zoë Kravitz, Jack Antonoff, and Stevie Nicks.
Guests also were not told where exactly the wedding would be held in the days leading up to the event, according to San Francisco 49ers tight end Kittle. “I have no idea,” he told Entertainment Tonight at the Tight Ends & Friends Concert Presented by Sports Illustrated and Reese’s in Nashville on June 23. His wife Claire agreed, telling ET, “We don’t know.”
The NFL player continued, “I actually asked Travis last night and he laughed at me, so … I’m half expecting there just to be a jumbo jet on the runway and they put us on a plane somewhere. I don’t have expectations, I know it’s going to be amazing.”
