Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ brings Swifties together
From midnight listening parties to themed outfits and emotional reactions, Taylor Swift’s latest album “The Life of a Showgirl” has fans gathering.
Taylor Swift is dancing the dark — with a Bruce Springsteen “Born in the U.S.A.” T-shirt on.
Swift, whose “The Life of a Showgirl” LP was released on Oct. 3, shared a selfie of herself wearing the Boss T on a Monday, Oct. 6 multi-image Instagram post. The pic was taken while recording the “Showgirl” album as she sits in a recording studio with what looks like a glass of wine on a nearby table.
“The Life of a Showgirl” was co-produced by Swift and Swedish producers Max Martin and Shellback, aka Karl Schuster.
“Being in the studio and creating these songs was an unforgettable experience, but luckily I don’t ever have to forget it because I was recording while we were writing — and now it’s a way to look back on the process and give you guys a glimpse into how we wrote these songs, and hear the moments we thought of these ideas in real time,” said Swift in the caption for the post, referring to the “Deluxe Alone In My Tower Acoustic Version” of her new album. It’s available for just 24 hours on iTunes.
Swift has previously performed the Springsteen “Born in the U.S.A.” single “Dancing in the Dark.” and she included the line “dancing in the dark” in the song “Wood” from “Showgirl.”
Springsteen has said he and his daughter Jessica Springsteen are fans of Swift. They played Swift’s “Midnights” during a car ride.
“She plays it for me top volume, all the way from Newark to Colts Neck, dancing in her seat, and I said, ‘That’s what I like to see,’ ” said Springsteen to Howard Stern in 2022. “It felt good. It was good. She’s super talented. (I know her) just a little bit. She’s a tremendous writer and I know her producer Jack Antonoff very well. Just making great records.”
It’s a little ironic that Swift shared the Boss T-shirt pic on a post featuring producers Martin and Shellback and not Jersey guy Antonoff, who released a song with Springsteen (“Chinatown”) and is working on an upcoming album with the Boss’ wife, Patti Scialfa.
