Hardcore bands are supposed to burn out quickly, breakup when they’re just getting going, and then maybe reunite to headline a hardcore festival a decade or two later. When they stick around, they run a serious risk of becoming a goofy, slightly embarrassing legacy band that coasts on past glories. Once in a long while, you might find a band like Converge, who gradually transcend the hardcore world without compromising their ferocity. But it’s even rarer to find a group like Terror, who can keep making straight-up no-modifiers hardcore for decades without losing focus or inspiration or goodwill.

Really, there is no other band like Terror. The Keepers Of The Faith are a singular institution. They were an exciting hardcore band when they started out nearly a quarter century ago, and they’re an exciting hardcore band today. It’s unfathomably rare that a hardcore band’s eighth album would just be a straight-up ripper, but that’s the only way to describe Terror’s last LP, 2022’s Pain Into Power. I’ve seen Terror live a couple of times since then — they tour tirelessly — and they’re just an absolute fucking machine live. Now, they’re coming back with a new album called Still Suffer, and the title track is a clear indication that they’ve about to wreck shit again.

Terror recorded Pain Into Power with Nails frontman Todd Jones, Terror’s founding guitarist, returning to the fold as a producer. Jones stuck around to produce Still Suffer, and Twitching Tongues’ Taylor Young did some extra production at his Pit studio. Hot Water Music’s Chuck Ragan appears on “Fear The Panic,” a song co-produced by New Found Glory’s Chad Gilbert. Mindforce’s Jay Peta, King Nine’s Dan Seely, and God’s Hate frontman/All Elite wrestler/“fuck ICE” chant catalyst Brody King also make appearances.

Terror have a long, long history of bringing younger hardcore bands out on tour, and they’re about to hit the road with three such acts — Mongrel, Collateral, and Combust — jumping on their pre-release tour at different points. I suggest you go see them if you get a chance. Terror simply don’t play bad shows. “Still Suffer,” the new album’s title track, is yet another anthemic stomper from this band, and I expect that it’ll crush live. If you don’t make an involuntary stinkface during the breakdown, then you and I are looking for different things. Below, check out the Derek Rathbun-directed “Still Suffer” video, as well as the album tracklist and Terror’s tour dates.
