Teyana Taylor spoke about channeling her inner Tom Cruise to perform stunts in the new Leonardo DiCaprio movie, One Battle After Another. Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, One Battle After Another is a dark comedy scheduled to release on September 26, 2025. Apart from Taylor and DiCaprio, it stars Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, and Regina Hall, among many others.
Teyana Taylor says she felt like Tom Cruise on the set of One Battle After Another
In an interview with Variety, Teyana Taylor discussed her character Perfidia in One Battle After Another. She first spoke about a very specific scene from the trailer where she shoots a machine gun while being pregnant, which appears around the 37-second mark.
“B—-, I felt like Tony Montana,” referring to Al Pacino’s character from Scarface. “It was cute, it was real cute. I had a good time because I don’t know if I would do that in real life…Maybe [but] without the belly,” she admitted.
The 34-year-old actress continued to talk about performing her own stunts. “By the way, I did all my own stunts. Well, like 99% of them…You know, I like to feel like Tom Cruise on set. Watch out, Tom Cruise,” Taylor shared.
In the interview, DiCaprio also spoke about his character, Bob Ferguson, as a guy “that sits home and smokes pot all the time.” The Revenant actor shared that he took major inspiration from Jeff Bridges’ The Big Lebowski from 1998. While DiCaprio didn’t perform all his stunts in the movie, he described the few stunts he did as “a series of failures.”
The film is written by Anderson, who produced it with Adam Somner and Sara Murphy. The music of the movie is scored by Anderson’s frequent collaborator and Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood.
