Right now, queer television is more necessary than ever, and it seems like every day there’s a new show that is getting canceled after a short run. Mid-Century Modern, Our Flag Means Death, and Dead Boy Detectives are just some of the programs that got the axe this year, but a few are still around and producing new episodes.

In those shows, there is undoubtedly some eye candy amongst the cast. While they may be nice to look at, sometimes their characters’ actions knock them down a peg on the hotness scale. With that in mind, we compiled a list of the most attractive gay characters on television shows available to stream right now. Here’s that list.

15. Sandy Gordon — ‘Running Point’

Drew Tarver plays Sandy Gordon, the gay chief financial officer for the family’s basketball team in Netflix’s Running Point. While he’s a handsome man with a few good qualities, Sandy puts too much focus on his job, so much so that his relationship with a well-to-do, charming dog groomer suffers. The Mindy Kaling-created show is currently shooting its second season, which is expected to be released next year.

14. Malcolm — ‘English Teacher’

Jordan Firstman is finding his stride in Hollywood after making appearances in shows like Search Party and Ms. Marvel. He appears as a recurring guest star in Hulu’s English Teacher, playing Malcolm, the supportive boyfriend of Evan (Brian Jordan Alvarez), who puts up with his stubborn antics and unwillingness to make things official. Firstman’s star is continuing to rise with his appearance in Rachel Sennott’s new series, I Love LA.

13. Cameron Cope — ‘Boots’

Miles Heizer’s piercing blue eyes are the focal point in almost every shot of Netflix’s new series, Boots, centered around a closeted teen who joins the Marines. After the show premiered, the Pentagon put out a statement calling the show “woke garbage,” because of course they did.

Jacob Hill is adorably attractive. The attentive, passionate history teacher at Abbott Elementary, played by Chris Perfetti, cares about his students and will fiercely defend them — even if he takes it a bit too far and finds himself in some sticky situations.

11. Laenor Velaryon — ‘House of the Dragon’

Laenor Velaryon is attractive, no ifs, ands, or buts about it — John Macmillan is gorgeous. But we had to knock him down a few spots in this show because of the wigs in HBO’s Game of Thrones spinoff series, House of the Dragon. They’re distractingly bad, but we’re still captivated by the chiseled jawline and emotive performance the actor delivers in this heavy role.

10. Gus, Robert, and Theo — ‘Industry’

David Jonsson, Harry Lawtey, and Will Tudor of HBO’s ‘Industry’

Industry is one of HBO’s sleeper hits that is finally getting the recognition it deserves. If you haven’t seen it, we can’t recommend it enough — not only for the intense drama, but also for the queer characters in the show. In the first season, we meet Gus, played by the handsome David Jonsson, who is having a steamy affair with the closeted Theo (Will Tudor). Early on in the show, we also learn that Rob, Harry Lawtey’s character, is sexually fluid and identifies as bisexual.

9. Benny — ‘Overcompensating’

Benito Skinner successfully made the transition from internet star to television star with his coming-of-age comedy, Overcompensating. In the show, he plays a college freshman discovering his sexuality — whether he wants to admit it or not — who makes some mistakes along the way, including being rude to one of the few openly queer people on campus. We’ll give him some grace because he realizes how messed up his attitude towards the situation was, but that’s why he’s not higher on the list.

8. Edison Cardosa — ‘Gen V’

Gay people can be villains too, and Edison Cardosa (played by Marco Pigossi) is the perfect example in the hit Amazon Prime series, Gen V. Dr. Cardosa may have a clean-shaven look, but we can’t look past his affinity for experimenting on innocent supes in a top-secret underground laboratory called The Woods in this spinoff series of The Boys.

7. Jordan Li — ‘Gen V’

This one is for the bisexuals. Jordan Li is a bigender supe in the Amazon Prime show Gen V, who can switch between a male form (played by Derek Luh) and a female form (London Thor). When they first make their appearance on screen in a male form, it’s hard not to swoon at the chiseled jawline and undeniable rizz oozing from Luh.

6. Paul Baker — ‘Adults’

Jack Innanen had his come-up on TikTok as a comedy personality, and even then, his clean-shaven look caught the eyes of men and women. In FX’s Adults, which just got renewed for a second season, he plays the lovable doof Paul Baker — a sexually fluid Canadian who has to find a way to stay in the States or risk deportation. He and Anton develop feelings for each other over the course of the season, but leave things on a cliffhanger.

5. Anton Evans — ‘Adults’

Anton deserves better! Out 100 honoree Owen Thiele’s character on the hit FX comedy series Adults is one of the most personable characters on television right now. He opens his heart (and front door) to truly anyone, including Paul Baker, who better treat him right.

4. Marcus — ‘Hacks’

Marcus (Carl Clemons-Hopkins) has worked as Debra Vance’s (Jean Smart) assistant in Hacks for years and isn’t afraid to put her in her place when needed! His fierce loyalty to his job and his boss clearly put a strain on his other relationships, especially the one that we saw at the beginning of the series, and we wish we could see more of him looking for romance in the show.

3. Arthur Guinness — ‘House of Guinness’

Who knew a show about a family beer company could get so steamy? Thanks to Arthur Guinness, one of the heirs to the family business, being portrayed by Anthony Boyle, there’s no shortage of male nudity. In one episode this season, viewers are treated to a full frontal nude scene of Arthur emerging from a bathtub. He made sure to let everyone know that he wasn’t wearing any prosthetics.

2. Nicholas — ‘Loot’

Nicholas (played by Joel Kim Booster) is best friends with one of the richest women on the planet, and through all the smoke and mirrors of wealth, he still sees Maya Rudolph’s character as a person — not just a pile of cash.
