Andrea Ámez knows she’s done her job right if she hears snoring. She likes to incorporate craniosacral techniques, holding a client’s neck near the base of the skull and using a light touch to release tension and relax the nervous system for several minutes. Her clients often add on a body scan meditation, which asks them to imagine “a golden halo stemming from the crown of the head” that can send healing energy to your body. You won’t just leave in a meditative state—Ámez is known for her steam-free extractions, using a topical mineral-based solution to dilate the pores. For former dancer Crystal Greene, the face is a space for self-expression, intention, and release. Her hands dance with different speeds and types of pressure to sculpt, stimulate the lymphatic system, and relax muscles. “Some are slow, others rhythmic; some are faster—but it’s all very intuitive,” she says of her moves.
