Journalism and archival stories from The Atlantic will become fair game for scripted and unscripted film and TV adaptations, thanks to a first-look deal that the venerable publication has inked with Prologue Entertainment, the production company founded by Noah Oppenheim, Lloyd Braun and Sarah Bremner.

Prologue, which is backed by RedBird Capital, will develop films and series based on The Atlantic’s journalism, with Jeff Zucker’s RedBird IMI securing a first-look deal for unscripted projects.

The production company has already had some significant projects despite only being founded last year. Prologue produced the Netflix series Zero Day, starring Robert De Niro (Oppenheim also co-created that series), and A House of Dynamite, the film directed by Kathryn Bigelow, which has become a talk of the town, and sparked a rebuttal from the Department of Defense.

Both projects also underscore what a deal with The Atlantic could offer, given its ability to break major stories (like Secretary Pete Hegseth’s “Signalgate” fiasco) and provide smart cultural and economic analysis.

Oppenheim, Braun and Bremner, of course, also have the entertainment bona fides to back up the venture, with Oppenheim having served as screenwriter for films like Jackie and The Maze Runner, and having served as the president of NBC News. Braun is the former chairman of WME and ABC Entertainment Group, and Bremner serving as former president of Ava DuVernay’s ARRAY Filmworks.

“The Atlantic uncovers the kinds of stories Prologue was created to tell,” Oppenheim said in a statement. “Both of our teams are fascinated not only with what’s happening in the world but also what could come next. We look forward to working with their journalists to develop more timely and relevant entertainment.”

“Prologue and RedBird IMI are the ideal partners for us,” added Nicholas Thompson, CEO of The Atlantic. “The Atlantic’s journalism is known for editorial rigor, exceptional writing, narrative brilliance, and memorable characters. I think we’re going to make some great art together.”
