Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is out now, and to celebrate the occasion, one of the game’s lead actors has shown off a stunning cosplay of her character. Lori Alan, who played The Boss in the 2004 original, has effectively reprised her role for a cosplay photoshoot, and the results are gorgeous.
On Twitter, Lori Alan posted a photo of herself in a full-on cosplay of The Boss, complete with the snake-shaped scar across her chest. She looks so good, it makes you wish Konami went the extra mile with this remake and hired her to do motion capture and lend her actual likeness to the role, but alas, they opted to utilize the original voice recordings and animation data for the remake (though faces are much more detailed this time around).
Metal Gear Solid Delta is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. I’ve really enjoyed the way they’ve marketed the game, using the original voice actors doing roundtable discussions, and even getting original singer Cynthia Harrell to record a new version of the 007-inspired theme song. I just wish they put this same level of effort into reinventing the game itself, rather than just “transposing” it onto the Unreal Engine 5. But I digress.
Reviews for the title are mostly positive, though Digital Foundry has reported some iffy framerates and other technical hiccups. Nothing deal-breaking, but definitely worth noting. Delta has already received a patch to fix some of the trouble spots, but there’s still more to come. The online “Fox Hunt” mode is coming later this year, so there will likely be more patches to improve the gameplay and smooth out the technical issues in the coming months.
Whether this is a one-off Metal Gear revival or the start of a renaissance for the series remains to be seen. That will likely depend on long-term sales figures for the series. For me, I’ll be happy as long as they contine with the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection series. Gimme a proper modern port of Metal Gear Solid 4, a 120 FPS version of Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, and… Uh, how about Metal Gear Ac!d? I’ve never played that one, but I loved Ac!d 2!
