A pop-punk band has reunited and will soon release their first new music in more than a decade.
The Cab announced “Road to Reign: A Prelude,” a four-track EP, will be released on Sept. 26. It will be the group’s first release since 2014’s “Lock Me Up” EP and comes more than 14 years after their last album, “Symphony Soldier,” in 2011.
“We know it took awhile. But the long road lead us right back to you. What was fractured can heal. What was silent can scream,” The Cab wrote on Facebook. “On September 26th our heart will beat again. It’s time. The prelude is here.”
It’s unclear if the “prelude” means a full-length album is also on the way. The Cab returned to activity earlier this year with a reunion tour opening for All Time Low, as well as performances at the When We Were Young Festival.
The Cab, featuring lead singer Alexander DeLeon, keyboardist/guitarist Alex T. Marshall and bassist Joey Thunder, formed in Las Vegas in the 2000s. They released their debut studio album, “Whisper War,” via Fueled by Ramen/Decaydance in 2008 and were named that year’s “The Band You Need to Know” by Alternative Press magazine.
The band rose to popularity in the MySpace/Warped Tour era with a mix of alternative rock, pop-punk, electropop and dance on hits like “One of THOSE Nights,” “Angel with a Shotgun,” “Temporary Bliss,” “Stand Up,” “La La” and “Endlessly.” The Cab still averages nearly 1.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify today.
DeLeon has also released music as a solo artist under the name Bohnes. His 2015 single, “Middle Finger,” has more than 163 million streams on Spotify.
