Any fan who’s been looking forward to The Devil Wears Prada 2 probably knows by now that Lady Gaga has teamed up with Doechii on an original song for the film called “Runway.” (It’s a house music-inspired tune that’s overflowing with attitude.) But that’s not the only music Gaga penned for the long-awaited sequel. She contributed three new songs for the soundtrack, which officially dropped today. “Shape of a Woman” and “Glamorous Life” join “Runway” in the lineup.
In fact, Gaga actually performs “Shape of a Woman” in the film during her cameo. Following a tense exchange with Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), she takes the stage (or the catwalk, rather) at a Runway magazine event in Milan and sings while models strut past her.
Apparently, Streep had a part in casting the pop star for that scene. “I thought, why don’t I get Gaga, because she’s so great and she loves fashion,” Streep told Jimmy Kimmel during a recent late-night appearance. “And I had her number.”
Gaga was so excited on the call that she said yes before Streep could explain her request. “I said, ‘Well, I haven’t asked you what I’m gonna ask you,’” Streep said, but Gaga replied, “Yeah, anything. What do you want?” Luckily, it all worked out.
