The wildly popular neo-Western drama Yellowstone may have ended, but the Dutton family’s story is far from over! If you’re a fan of the hit series, you’re in luck—because there are several new spinoffs in the works. One of them, Y: Marshals, will bring newfound justice to the wild plains of rural Montana. Picking up right where the series finale left off, this 13-episode season will follow leading man Kayce Dutton as he trades ranch life for law enforcement—and, yes, Luke Grimes is reprising his original role. Premiering on CBS in spring 2026, the spinoff will explore Kayce’s stint in the U.S. Marshals, plus the psychological impact of fighting crime on the frontier and trying to juggle his family duties.
If you’re eager to learn more about Kayce’s next chapter, you’re not alone. Hopefully, though, the first look of Y: Marshals will tide you over for the time being. Entertainment Tonight released the first extended footage of the new show and it teases an action-packed adventure.
In the 30-second clip, you’ll see Kayce dressed in his U.S. Marshals gear while mentally and physically preparing for a fight with a group of fellow law enforcers. In the voice-over of the brief shot, you can hear Kayce saying, “I’m changing paths, trying to find a new beginning.”
As the video continues, in an exclusive interview with the media outlet, Grimes reveals what viewers can expect for Kayce’s storyline and character development in this new spinoff. “I feel like in the original Yellowstone, he didn’t know what to do with his life,” Grimes admits. “Now, he’s got a path and a journey to go on.”
Die-hard fans of the Yellowstone universe will be ecstatic to know that Gil Birmingham, Mo Brings Plenty, and Brecken Merrill will also be returning to the upcoming series as their original characters. And you’ll see a few new faces: Logan Marshall-Green (Upgrade, Spider-Man: Homecoming) will take on the role of Pete Calvin, a friend of Kayce’s from his time in the military, and Brett Cullen (Ransom Canyon, The Shallows) is set to play the head of the U.S. Marshals in Montana. Other members of the U.S. Marshals you’ll catch onscreen will include Arielle Kebbel (The Vampire Diaries, Aquamarine), Ash Santos (Shattered), and Tatanka Means (Ransom Canyon).
