The moment Christine McGuinness breaks down in tears after quitting Celebs Go Dating – as the real reason for her exit is revealed

Christine McGuinness emotional exit from Celebs Go Dating has been revealed, with the mother-of-three breaking down in tears as she quit the show on Tuesday.

Back in April it was reported that Christine, 37, decided to leave the show midway through filming as she wanted to ‘go home to her children.’

And now viewers have seen the moment Christine made the shock decision to leave the show, after a discussion with agents Anna Williamson and Paul C Brunson. 

Christine, who split from her husband Paddy in 2022, said: ‘Well, I’ve been thinking quite a lot whilst we’ve been in Ibiza and I think I need to date in more of a natural environment.

‘I think I just would love to meet somebody and date more privately. It’s where I’m kind of feeling myself going back, when I want to go freely forward.

‘Right. And I’ve made the decision to leave the agency.’

Christine continued: ‘But as much as I am very, very comfortable talking about my sexuality and being me, and I know that I want to continue dating women, I’ve found that outside attention far too much.

‘And I’ve found myself feeling like I’m hiding more. And I don’t want that. That’s not what I want.’

Breaking down in tears, Christine then admitted she just wanted to ‘go home’ and ‘be with her children.

The tearful star added: ‘I’ve been missing the kids loads this week. I think all the love I need right now is waiting for me at home.’

Both Anna and Paul accepted to Christine’s decision, and after embracing her, bid her farewell as she prepared to return home.

As the episode aired, expert Anna shared her reaction when she learned Christine had decided to quit the show.

She told The Mirror that while on screen it only seemed that Christine was with the agency for a week, in reality she ‘really worked on herself.’

‘Every moment really does count when you’re in the agency, and in real time we had Christine with us for a good couple of weeks,’ she said. ‘It was really lovely to get to know her, and this is what’s so special about the show, it is real,’ Anna said.

‘We didn’t know until the scene you’ll see. As coaches, we picked up that she was finding the process challenging, everybody find the process challenging. Ibiza put even more of a spotlight on that.

‘It was very brave of her to come to us to say she had made the decision that it wasn’t the right time. Me and Paul absolutely applauded that. 

‘That is always the right approach, to be lead by our clients as coaches. They’re in the driving seat, we’re just in the passengers seat helping them stay on the right road that’s right for them.’ 

Earlier in the series, viewers also saw Christine open up about her ex-husband Paddy’s ‘mistakes,’ as she claimed ‘the trust was broken’ in their marriage.

She explained: ‘When I met my ex-husband, he wasn’t as known as what he is now. I was 19 when I met him. I went to an event where I was modelling.

‘My ex-husband was there, someone introduced us. We had a laugh and kept in touch.’

When asked by the experts if she fancied Paddy, Christine replied: ‘Yeah, I did. He had a cheeky charm, he made me laugh.’

She also described meeting Paddy as ‘perfect timing’ and said it was ‘an easy relationship.’ 

The pair, who wed in 2011, have three children – twins Leo and Penelope, as well as Felicity.

The experts then asked Christine about the breakup, to which she replied: ‘Anyone can make mistakes, but I think the trust was broken.’

‘I’ll always love him, he’s the father of my children and I think he’s the only man that I’ll ever love. A lot of people make mistakes and mess up, and when you’re in a couple who is quite well known in the industry, obviously then everyone knows your business.’
