Up-and-coming British actor Scott Rose-Marsh has reportedly tested for the role of James Bond.
If Rose-Marsh lands the iconic role, it would mark the first time a redheaded actor was cast as James Bond.
Rose-Marsh, 37, has starred in films such as Code of Silence and Wolves of War and was uncredited in three episodes of The Outlaws. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor read for the role in late June.
While the role remains unfilled, rumors have been swirling about who will replace Daniel Craig as the legendary franchise lead.
Succession actor Brian Cox shared his opinion on the matter, putting his vote in for Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy, calling him an “interesting choice.”
“It’s only natural that it goes through changes because we start off young and end up old,” said Cox. “Is Cillian Murphy being recommended? I think that would be interesting.”
The highly-coveted role — originally portrayed by Sean Connery — would surely boost any unknown actor to superstardom, but there is one star who took his name out of the running.
“I don’t think I’m a good choice for it,” Taron Egerton previously told Collider. “I think I’m too messy for that. I think I’m not— I really love James Bond and particularly Daniel Craig’s tenure. But I think I wouldn’t be good at it, and I think there’s so many cool, younger actors who would be great for it. I think it would be wasted on me, probably.”
He added, “But James Bond is quite an undertaking and I think, one, as far as I’m aware, nobody’s asking me to do it.”
Rumors have been swirling that stars such as Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James and Harris Dickinson could be tapped for the lead in the Denis Villeneuve directed film.
