Releasing what feels like four years after people stopped caring about the show, the first trailer for The Mandalorian’s spinoff movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, is here.
The good news is that the trailer does everything it can to recapture the fun and adventure that made the series so popular in its first season. The same fun and adventure it basically abandoned in later seasons so that it could inexplicably replace our main characters with Bo Katan.
Season 3 destroyed the show in the eyes of most fans, but if there’s any hope left for Star Wars, it’s all wrapped up in the tone of this trailer. They’ve nailed that, which only makes their decision to ruin it on the show all that much more bizarre.
If there’s any problem with The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer, it’s probably that too much of it seems to involve puppets. I love puppets, integrated with other special effects, but a lot of this feels like you’re watching a full-on puppet show.
There’s also the movie’s logo, which seems designed to try to make the audience feel dizzy. Who thought this was a good idea?
