The hit medical drama “The Pitt” took home one of TV’s most coveted prizes at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, winning the outstanding drama series category that included prestige shows such as “Severance,” “The White Lotus,” and “The Last of Us.”
“The Pitt” also won outstanding lead actor for Noah Wyle’s performance as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, an emergency room physician at a teaching hospital in Pittsburgh.
“Thank you to everybody at HBO Max and to Warner Bros. Television for allowing the conditions to exist for lightning to strike in my life twice,” said Wyle, whose career includes five Emmy nominations for his supporting role as a doctor on “ER,” in his acceptance speech Sept. 14.
Wyle dedicated his Emmy to the real-life medical professionals the show depicts.
“Thank you for being in that job,” he said. “This is for you.”
