For years, people have wondered just how close Queen Elizabeth II and her grandson, Prince Harry, were, as he slowly began distancing himself from other members of the royal family over the last ten years. Although she stayed reserved following his official departure, a royal author is revealing how she felt as the couple worked out a potential alternative plan before leaving.
Royal commentator and author, Robert Jobson, detailed the situation in his latest books, The Windsor Legacy and Catherine, The Princes Of Wales, noting that the couple originally hoped they could still maintain their royal titles and still do a portion of their work as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, earning their own income but still taking on limited duties.
The author claimed this idea was often described as a “half-in, half-out” situation, as reported by The Express.

Back when the Harry & Meghan stars were working on trying to make some kind of plan to step down, worried about their safety and needing a break from the press and demands of the monarchy, all eyes were on Queen Elizabeth II, who remained composed as royal family fans wondered how she felt behind the scenes.
Jobson wrote that the queen was allegedly quite upset over the idea of the couple’s “half-in, half-out” situation, especially if the idea involved them cherry-picking royal responsibilities while taking on one excess project.
“The idea of the couple earning millions by cashing in on their royal titles and status was abhorrent to her,” he wrote.
Despite all of the attention, royal insiders stepped forward to claim that towards the end of her life, the late queen continued to maintain a relationship with her distant grandson and great-grandchildren, even if she didn’t allow them to live like part-time royalty.
