Another Friday, another haul of vinyl to be had! What’s in it for you? Well, if you’re a fan of Willow, you can gleefully scoop up her second record this year alone, and it’s just as good as the first one she dropped in 2026. The genre-fluid artist with the voice of silk has chops for days.
Milwaukee fans of Ian Sweet pumped about her Oct. 22 show at Falcon Hall get a sneak preview of that set with today’s release of Shiverstruck. Jilian Medford’s confessional songs always make us pine for the fall months, so having her drop by during that season will be very fitting.
Will it be a “Music, Fashion, Film” summer? The only way to find out is to listen to the new Charli XCX album and weigh that notion yourself. Finally, the affable and beloved soft-rocker Robyn Hitchcock is back with his 25th solo record, and it’s a delight for fans of all things jangly. Clean out that record bag and make a beeline to your fave brick and mortar, because this week’s a particular good’n to be a music fan.

Best new albums out July 24
Willow, The Thread
The artist and producer is back with her eighth studio album, and the genre-fluid wizard once again blends and bends the sounds of rock, R&B, jazz and soul. Making The Thread even more amazing is that it’s album number two for her this year alone! Petal Rock Black came out in February and was incredible in its own right, so it’s a really good time to be a Willow fan as far as releases go.
For vinyl nerds, find this one on plain black at the shops and also a couple special variants via special order: neon magenta clear cloud vinyl and a purple, black and white swirl option from Three Six Zero Recordings.
Ian Sweet, Shiverstruck
For her pop-rock project, Los Angeles-based musician Jilian Medford composes cinematic songs about feelings that are larger than life. She adds an element of sparkle to everything she writes, and is really great at creating an emotive and cinematic quality to each song (her voice is incredible, too). Ian Sweet’s solid last album SUCKER had lots of gems, so we’re glad this new one’s finally out!
For vinyl fans, there’s an early bird vinyl of Shiverstruck available — a black and baby blue “cornetto” edition with a test-pressing that’s limited to 200 copies — as well as a bright baby blue version at all the shops.
Charli XCX, Music, Fashion, Film
After the widespread success of BRAT, Charli XCX emphasized how much she wanted to turn to the next chapter in her career and has done just that, making the soundtrack for Wuthering Heights and starring in her movie The Moment (along with a few other films in 2025).
Music, Fashion, Film might not end up having a whole summer named after it but is bound to be another fun, playful and heartfelt pop album within the Charli discography. As far as features go, David Cronenberg is the only one on the 11-track album, which you can find on an indie exclusive “Yorkshire smoke” vinyl via Atlantic Records at a local record store near you.
Robyn Hitchcock, The Confuser
The prolific English singer-songwriter and guitarist’s new album is his 25th solo effort, which of course doesn’t include his work as the lead singer of The Soft Boys in the late ’70s, influencing bands like R.E.M and The Replacements. Still going strong after all these years, the 73-year-old Hitchcock’s new album is available via Tiny Ghost Records on standard black vinyl, along with a neon green variant.
