Meghan Markle could be set to make a shock return to the UK this year, four years after her last three-week visit in September 2022. The 44-year-old is reportedly weighing up whether she should join Prince Harry at the one-year countdown event for the 2027 Invictus Games in his home country.
The countdown event will take place in the UK, with next year’s Games set to take place in Birmingham in July 2027. It has been said that the only thing standing in the way of Meghan’s return is whether Harry’s police protection in the UK is reinstated.
The review of Harry’s UK security is set to take place later this month.
It has been said that Meghan is less keen on a return to the UK but will agree so that her two children – six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet – can make a visit as the family “love to do stuff together”.
A source told the Sunday Times: “I think she would come back with him [and the children].”
Speaking of the motive behind the possible visit, they added: “They love to do stuff as a family whenever they can, and when they do things as a couple philanthropically, they often do take the kids along privately.
“I can’t see a reason why he’d come over with the kids without her.”
Speaking further about Harry and Meghan’s potential next joint visit, they added: “There will be all kinds of considerations, like the children’s school and other commitments. But if the security is sorted, then yes, of course that would open up the door to come back more with his family and bring the family over more. He’s been clear on that.
“His desire is to show his kids where he grew up and the UK. If security is sorted, he’ll want to sit down and think about what does that look like? How should we show up? We’d all hope for and love that to happen.”
Archie and Lilibet, then aged three and one, are last thought to have visited the UK in June 2022, joining in celebrations for the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
