NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Arts Festival’s fall lineup includes performances from its Attucks Jazz series, the Soweto Gospel Choir and Step Afrika!.
According to a press release, The 2025-2026 Attucks Jazz series features six musicians, including Jaleel Shaw, Joel Ross and Ken Peplowski. They will perform between Sept. 2025 and March 2026 at the Attucks Theatre in Norfolk.
The award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir are touring with their new program “Peace.” The choir will sing songs from popular vocalists like Aretha Franklin, Harry Belafonte and Kate Bush. Their shows will be at the Ferguson Center for the Arts in Newport News, and the Attucks Theatre, on Oct. 12 and Oct. 14 respectively.
Step Afrika! combines percussive dance styles, traditional African dances, and contemporary dance and art forms to create a compelling dance show. The dance company will stomp onto Chrysler Hall in Norfolk on Oct. 23.
