Theory of a Deadman will release a new EP called Part 1: Funeral Songs on September 4 through ONErpm. The Canadian rock group just shared their second single, “Winnebago (Lay Low)” with a music video. They put out “Barricade” earlier this year.
“‘Winnebago (Lay Low)’ is the epitome of the anti-bar song. The F around and find out sing-along,” said frontman Tyler Connolly, according to RTTNews. “As I get older, I realize that it really is better to just stay home.”
Tyler Connolly explained how they’re putting out the six-track EP. “This song is among other anthems we recorded for our upcoming EP Funeral Songs, which is a part 1 of 2, and after all these years we’ve finally been able to focus on fewer songs and release more often like small batches of fine Kentucky Bourbon,” he said.
Chris Baseford and Tyler Connolly produced the new tracks. Chris Baseford and Irene Genova mixed the songs at Lucky Dog Sound. Ted Jensen handled mastering at Sterling Sound.
The group landed two Top 10 debuts on the Billboard 200. They also grabbed four Top 5 debuts on the Canadian Albums Chart. Multiple Juno Award nominations have come their way throughout the years.
Part 1: Funeral Songs will come out on splattered vinyl and CD. Fans can pre-order through limited-edition signed bundles that include a t-shirt.
The EP has six tracks: “Barricade,” “Funeral Song,” “Winnebago (Lay Low),” “Monster Truck,” “Deep End,” and “Prenup.” The band is also on tour this year, with all dates listed on their official website.
