Hollywood stars Pamela Anderson and Michael Cera are in the Ottawa area shooting a new film called Love Is Not The Answer.
While the exact location of the shoot has not been disclosed, social-media users have posted sightings of Anderson and Cera in places ranging from the downtown core to the Ottawa Valley.
The production team is scheduled to be in the region for a month, from Nov. 10 to Dec. 10. Steve Coogan, Fred Hechinger and Jamie Dornan are also among the cast members.
For Cera, the 37-year-old Canadian actor known for roles in Superbad, Scott Pilgrim vs the World and Barbie, the project marks his first directing effort. He also wrote the script.
The B.C.-born Anderson, meanwhile, has revived her movie career since she stopped wearing heavy makeup and reinvented her sex-symbol image. At 58, the former Baywatch babe now sports a trendy shag haircut framing her mascara-free face.
“I just felt like I had nothing to lose,” she told one interviewer. “I’m not trying to create a persona right now. I’m not trying to be famous. I want to experiment and open up conversations.”
After appearing alongside Liam Neeson in the 2025 instalment of The Naked Gun, Anderson has also made headlines for her budding relationship with Neeson. A recent video on social-media found the couple sampling Canadian brands of candy.
The new film is described as “a precise yet unpredictable, absurdist comedy that moves between hilarity and heartbreak as it explores modern loneliness and the search for connection.”
It is expected to debut at Cannes next year.
