Things to do in Cincinnati this week, Sept. 1-7, 2025

It’s officially the unofficial end of summer, and we’ve got some ideas for how you can spend your day off. Stick around for a jam-packed weekend schedule, full of perfect ways to kick off the ‘Ber months, including Oktoberfest celebrations, annual fall yard sales, a haunted scream park opening and college football.

Here’s a look at the biggest, best and most interesting things happening in Cincinnati over the next seven days.

Monday, Sept. 1

Happy Labor Day!

Participate in Aruna Run Cincinnati

For those who don’t want to lie around on their day off, sign up for this race. All proceeds from registration fees and donations help free trafficked women.

Attend the largest Christian music festival (last chance!)

See over 100 artists at the 40 Days of Christian Music Festival with a concert every day. In addition to music and talks, explore exhibits, ride the new carousel, see exotic animals at Ararat Ridge Zoo, zoom down thrilling zip lines and even ride a camel. This event ends Sept. 6.

Visit Kings Island/Soak City (final day)

It’s the last day Soak City is open, and today marks the end of the summer season for Kings Island (before reopening at the end of September for the much-anticipated Halloween Haunt). Spend your day off riding roller coasters and cooling off at the waterpark.

Step into A Healing Garden at Krohn

Drawing inspiration from the Padua Botanical Garden in Italy, this fall show at Krohn Conservatory highlights the garden’s history, its role in modern medicine and the fundamental importance of plants to human well-being.

Watch a Reds game

What’s more American than baseball? The Cincinnati Reds play the Toronto Blue Jays. Grab tickets to see the games this week.

See ‘Where the Mountain Meets the Sea’ at Playhouse in the Park

Lyrical storytelling and live folk music weave an emotional tale of rediscovering love and the everlasting bond between a son and his Haitian immigrant father.

Watch ‘D.E.B.S.’ at Washington Park

Grab your lawn chairs and movie snacks for a fun night on Washington Park’s Civic Lawn. This week’s flick is “D.E.B.S.”

Wednesday, Sept. 3

Laugh out loud at NFL Comedy Roast

For those excited for football season, this event is for you. Take a trip to Covington Yard for a night of laughs at the NFL’s expense. Come on – you’ve been thinking it, and Andrew Rudick & Friends are gonna say it while you sip on your favorite cold drink. This event is ticketed, so secure them early.

Create a pumpkin out of glass at Neusole Glassworks

If you’re itching for some fall fun, Neusole Glassworks has got you covered. Craft your own pumpkin, blown by professionals out of hot molten glass.

Thursday, Sept. 4

Have some fall fair fun

At the Harvest Home Fair, you can march in the opening parade Thursday and enjoy rides, games, booths, a cornhole tournament, flower and art shows, exhibits and stageshows.

Browse artwork at Brazee at the Barn

Come to The Barn in Mariemont to see a dynamic group show including painting, printmaking, pastels, paper, textiles, jewelry, glass and more. This exhibit will be open Sept. 4-17 with an opening reception Sept. 5 from 5-9 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 5

Jam out to live tunes at Whimmydiddle

Country and country-adjacent music fans should come to Whimmydiddle to see performances by a new lineup each day. On Friday, see The Devil Makes Three and Town Mountain perform live. On Saturday, see Grace Potter, Taylor Hunnicut and Clay Street Unit.

Sample wine at Vinoklet Art & Wine Festival

Hear a new lineup of performers each day with special guest MCs Steve Summers on Friday and Chris O’Brien and Janeen Coyle on Saturday. Shop from art vendors, grab tasty bites to eat and, of course, sip on a glass (or two) of wine.

‘Tis the season for frights and delights! Land of Illusion’s Haunted Screampark opens this weekend. Enter horrifying attractions such as Temple of Terror, Killer Klowns, Dr. Psycho’s Haunted Estate, Middletown Haunted Trail, Phobia and Toxic Hillbillies.

Celebrate Oktoberfest in Springboro

When it comes to festivals, Oktoberfest remains supreme – at least to Cincinnatians. Those in Springboro or those wanting to experience its charm can come to yet another Oktoberfest. Get ready for authentic German food from bratwurst to schnitzel. Throw back a cold “bier” or sip on a glass of wine. There will also be fun for the kids in their very own Kids Fun Zone. Expect plenty of games, polka music, dancing and fun for the whole family.

Support St. Susanna Catholic Church at their fall festival. Buy a raffle ticket to try your luck, find a new treasure at the silent auction and more.

Peruse thousands of goodies, grab a bite to eat from the snack bar, and learn more about fellowship and local missions at the 117th Lawn Fete. Proceeds support Sycamore Presbyterian Preschool, Lesotho Nutrition Initiative and Hope’s Closet.

The fun continues into Saturday, with Family Fun Day from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Kids can enjoy a petting zoo, touch a truck, obstacle course, ice cream and crafts.

See The Red Clay Strays perform at Icon
