THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WCTV) – Thomasville city councilors unanimously approved the first reading of a couple of notable items during a council meeting Monday evening.
The five-member council approved setting up an entertainment district in downtown Thomasville, which would allow businesses to sell alcoholic drinks and permit people to walk around downtown drinking them.
Before Monday, the city only allowed it for special events, such as First Fridays.
More news out of South Georgia:
During the Monday meeting, councilors also approved the first reading of an ordinance that would create zoning changes in some older neighborhoods, meaning tiny homes, duplexes, or buildings that house four or fewer units would be allowed.
Both items must pass a second reading before finalization.
