Three live-music options Saturday in Central Oregon

The Winter Solstice is officially on Sunday, but for most folks, going out and seeing live music late into the evening is easier on Saturday than Sunday. If you’d like to celebrate the longest night of the year with some local music, here are three options happening at three different venues on Saturday night:
Longtime Bend-based boogie-merchants The Mostest are playing a “Mostest Solstice” show at Wildwood Bar & Grill, 550 SW Industrial Way in Bend. Led by guitarist Mark Ransom and bassist Pat Pearsall, the band has been regularly rolling out groovy originals and covers ’round the region for a couple of decades. This time, they’ll have Seren Slade on vocals, Dylan Bernal on drums and Patrick Ondrozeck on keys. 7 p.m. Free.

If it’s string-band solstice you seek, get thee to Blacksmith Public House, 308 SW Evergreen Ave. in Redmond, where Grits ‘n’ Gravy will perform its highly likable brand of acoustic folk and classic country music. A subset of the popular Dry Canyon Stampede, Grits ‘n’ Gravy features Lilli Worona (fiddle), Mike Biggers (guitar/vocals), and Kurt Silva (guitar/vocals). 6:30-10 p.m. Free.
Formed way back in 1996, The Substitutes are one of the longest running rock ‘n’ roll bands in Central Oregon. For just as long, they’ve been committed to delivering “100% organic, USDA Prime, gluten-free, range-fed rock and roll, with no unpleasant side effects or aftertaste” to anyone within earshot. On Saturday, they’ll bring all of that and ore to the stage at The Commonwealth Pub, 30 SW Century Drive in Bend. 8-10 p.m. Free.
