Hannah John-Kamen cast in One Second After with Josh Holloway

Josh Holloway plays John Matherson, a college professor and former military officer, in One Second After. He must protect his North Carolina community after a catastrophic electromagnetic pulse attack cripples the United States. Hannah John-Kamen portrays Makalya, a nurse stranded in Black Mountain. She teams up with Matherson to help the town survive.

The character of Makalya is described as someone who contributes medical expertise and resilience as modern society unravels. According to Deadline, John-Kamen’s character “fights to keep the community alive as modern society unravels, offering both medical expertise and emotional resilience.” Production on the film begins this month in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The novel’s story revolves around a man who tries to protect his family and his town after a brutal electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack on the United States. J. Michael Straczynski penned the screenplay of the movie.

Scott Rogers is directing the film. Rogers is best known for his stunt coordination and second unit work on John Wick: Chapter 4, Tron: Ares, The Matrix Resurrections, and Ford v Ferrari. MPI’s Rob Pfaltzgraff and Nick Reid are producing with Startling Inc.’s Matt Kennedy. Author William R. Forstchen serves as executive producer.

John-Kamen recently reprised her Marvel role as Ghost in Thunderbolts*. She starred alongside Florence Pugh, Wyatt Russell, Sebastian Stan, and David Harbour. She is also part of the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, which is currently filming in the United Kingdom. Her other credits include Unwelcome, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, Netflix’s The Stranger, and Peacock’s Brave New World.
