Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing and the MCU’s next title, Brand New Day, is gearing up for release next year. One of the most exciting details revealed in a promotional video that sent fans into a tizzy was when Tom’s web slinger stepped out of the shadows, rocking his new costume, and asked the fan, “Are we ready?”
Surprisingly, in a quick 23-second promo, fans noticed something had changed. Spidey has moved away from the Stark Technology Spider-Man suit. Though different, it was still recognizable.
Sharp-eyed fans deduced that the new costume has some striking similarities with the suits of Sam Raimi and Marc Webb’s Spider-Man. From brighter tones of red and blue to larger 3D-like spider insignia at the chest, the changes cleverly and clearly drew inspiration from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spidey costumes.
If anything, these elements represent the impact these earlier versions of Spidey had on Holland’s portrayal. Fans were thrilled that the web slinger was transitioning to a more comic-accurate costume.
Tom Holland reflected on these changes during a conversation with Complex (via X). He said, “I really like the idea that he’s trying to be his big brothers, that he looks up to them and he sees little details on their suits that he thinks are really cool, and now that he is making his own suit and isn’t part of this bigger team.”
All of this also signals that we may not see Spider-Man sporting his final suit from No Way Home. It’s a shame we never got too see that suit in its full glory.
Spider-Man Brand New Day is set to release on July 31, 2026.
