Tom Holland‘s new suit in Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a blend of three iconic portrayals of the superhero. The upcoming MCU movie will feature Holland as the web-slinger for the fourth time in a standalone film.
Tom Holland’s Brand New Day costume pays tribute to two Spider-Man eras
Spider-Man in live-action movies has been highly popularized by three main actors so far, namely Tobey Maguire in Sam Raimi’s trilogy, Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man series, and Tom Holland in the MCU.
Obviously, all three iterations have been special for fans of the friendly neighborhood superhero. Now, it seems they will get the best of all three in Holland’s new suit featured in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. During a promotional interview, the actor revealed that his suit is actually a blend of elements inspired by the costume designs of Maguire’s, Garfield’s, and Holland’s Spider-Men.
“We said, what if we made a suit that was an homage to Tobey’s and Andrew’s designs? Because now my Peter Parker had met those guys.”
Holland’s Peter had interacted with Tobey and Andrew’s versions during the crossover events of No Way Home. “So we kind of created a spider-child of all three costumes.”
Beyond the costume, Brand New Day is also expected to have more intriguing elements. Compared to previous installments featuring Holland, it will provide a mystery-thriller treatment to the plot. The lead actor confirmed the update in another media interview.
Emphasizing Brand New Day’s story experience, Holland said, “This movie is a real mystery and for a large portion of the film, even Spider-Man is a little bit at odds and lost and is like, ‘What is going on?’ We’re just trying to find ways to make this movie feel like a detective movie.”
The film has generated significant buzz in recent weeks due to multiple reasons and recent rumors. One interesting rumor recently claimed that Holland’s Peter Parker will have a sensual scene with Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, who will reportedly have a cameo in the movie.
Another rumor concerns former Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, who is making her MCU debut in Brand New Day. Various reports have claimed that she might be playing popular X-Men character Jean Grey. However, Marvel has yet to share any official details about her character.
