Tori Spelling has broken her silence after she was involved in a car accident with seven children last week.
TMZ was the first to report the news on Sunday (5 April) that the Beverly Hills, 90210 star, 52, had been taken to hospital, along with the group of kids who were also in the vehicle – four of her own children, and three of their friends.
The actress’s spokesperson later confirmed to NBC News that there had been an accident in Temecula, California, on Thursday (2 April) at around 5.45pm local time.
It was also clarified that Spelling was behind the wheel when the crash unfolded, after another driver was alleged to have run a red light while speeding, hitting her SUV.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that two vehicles were found with collision damage and the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
No arrests were made at the scene, and TMZ reported that Spelling and the children were rushed to the hospital, where they were treated for ‘cuts, bruises, contusions, concussions, and other injuries’.

While it’s been confirmed that four of Spelling’s kids were in the car, it’s not been reported which, as she shares five children with her ex-husband, Dean McDermott – Liam, 19, Stella, 17, Hattie, 14, Finn, 13, and Beau, nine.
Speaking out for the first time since the accident, Spelling posted a video to Instagram on Tuesday (7 April), explaining how ‘overwhelming’ the situation has been.
She revealed she feels ‘lucky’ to be okay as it ‘could’ve been so much worse,’ while thanking the emergency services involved.
The actress started the social media video by saying: “Hi. I just wanted to reach out to everyone, and it just took me a bit to post this because, as most of you know, four of my kids and I, and three of their friends were in a car accident a few days before Easter in Temecula.
“And we’re okay, but it’s been really overwhelming. We are so grateful and so lucky because it could’ve been so much worse.”
Spelling claimed: “The driver that hit us was speeding, was going crazy, crazy fast, and added that she believes he ‘went through a light.’
She said that ‘guardian angels were definitely with us that day, because in a split second I looked to my right and I saw he was coming full-on, full impact into the side of our car, and I turned hard left as hard as I could as fast as I could, to avoid as much impact on the children as possible. He spun us out’.
The actress thanked ‘all of the first responders on the scene,’ as well as expressing her gratitude to the hospital where they were treated, the Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, California.
She concluded: “I’m grateful to everyone who has reached out and repeatedly checked on us and offered to do whatever we needed to get us through this, and all the blessings everyone has sent.
“So thank you, everybody, and still putting my thoughts together about everything that happened, and just so much gratitude for life and the bravery of all of the kids in the car with what they went through.”
