For Jason Kelce, the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe came with a little extra motivation this year — and a chance to stick it to his younger brother.
Playing at the Edgewood Tahoe Resort without Travis Kelce for the first time, the recently retired Philadelphia Eagles center arrived with an unusual family wager hanging over the week. According to the Reno Gazette Journal, the brothers bet on whether Jason could finish higher than Travis had in either of his last two appearances in the celebrity golf tournament. Travis finished 87th in 2024 and 86th in 2025, setting a modest target for his older brother.
The stakes? A full Blue Man Group makeover.
“It’s a full Blue Man Group,” Jason told tournament officials. “I don’t know how it happens. I believe it is a full-body paint job.”
Travis, who married pop superstar Taylor Swift on July 3 in New York City, missed the event for the first time in eight years. That absence didn’t spare him from the consequences of the bet.
The American Century Championship’s modified Stableford format rewards aggressive play, awarding points for eagles, birdies and pars while deducting points for double bogeys and worse. When the 54-hole tournament wrapped up Sunday, Jason had done just enough. He finished tied for 74th alongside former NFL quarterback Joe Theismann, comfortably ahead of Travis’ 86th-place finish from a year ago.
That means the Chiefs’ tight end is now destined to be painted blue.
The tournament also came just days after a memorable family celebration. Jason and wife Kylie’s four daughters all served as flower girls in Travis and Swift’s wedding at Madison Square Garden.
“It was a special event for our entire family, and obviously my daughters are incredible,” Jason said. “They’re beautiful, they’re incredible personalities. And Travis and Taylor love them. So, very happy we were able to be a part of it. And more importantly, very happy for those two. It was an amazing day.”
A wedding, a golf tournament and now a looming full-body paint job — it has been quite the month for the Kelce family.
