Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has shared that the band is prioritising new music while gearing up for yet another North American leg of their Peel It Back tour.

After the glowing acclaim Nine Inch Nails received for their Tron: Ares soundtrack, it seems Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are keen to put out another release soon.

In a recent conversation with Consequence, the Nine Inch Nails frontman revealed that the band are working on new material. “We are working on new stuff, and we’re excited to work on it,” Reznor shared. “We are prioritising working on Nine Inch Nails over just taking on every single thing that comes up in the other category.”

He’d continued: “So, beyond that, I can’t say much.” He would finish by saying, “The difference between now and a year ago is the fuse has been lit, and the desire is there.”

This would mark a major improvement in Reznor’s feelings towards the industry. It was only a year ago that the frontman told IndieWire, “The culture of the music world sucks… What technology has done to disrupt the music business in terms of not only how people listen to music, but the value they place on it is defeating. I’m not saying that as an old man yelling at clouds, but as a music lover who grew up where music was the main thing. Music 1765858915 feels largely relegated to something that happens in the background.”

In addition to releasing their first full-length album since 2020’s duo release Ghosts V: Together and Ghosts VI: Locusts, the band have been busy playing throughout North America with their Peel It Back tour. Reznor would also attribute touring as a major influence in his shifting perspective on music, finding the experience reinvigorating.

Nine Inch Nails would announce new dates for yet another North American tour back in October, with support from Electronic producer Boyz Noize.

No promise a new album will be released in 2026, but regardless, it’s exciting to see the group this active once again.
