Grammys host Trevor Noah made a mockery of CBS and its parent company Paramount during the network’s broadcast of the ceremony on Sunday.
The former “Daily Show” host — who used this year’s award show to bash Donald Trump’s Greenland takeover talk and his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, among others — evoked the president again to remind viewers that the broadcast was “completely live.”
“Because if we edited any of this show, the president would sue CBS for $16 billion,” quipped the comedian in reference to Paramount settling Trump’s lawsuit against “60 Minutes” over a 2024 episode with then-Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024.
The lawsuit, widely seen as frivolous by First Amendment advocates, alleged that CBS News had deceptively edited the interview with Harris to make the then-veep look good.
Paramount’s $16 million settlement notably arrived ahead of the company’s merger with Skydance, a move that required approval from the administration.
CBS News has since faced backlash over its rightward tilt under Paramount CEO (and Trump ally) David Ellison, as well as Bari Weiss, the conservative journalist who was recently installed as the news division’s editor-in-chief.
Noah’s on-air dig arrives just weeks after Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser used CBS’ broadcast of the ceremony to put its news division on blast over its shock decision to pull a “60 Minutes” segment off the air that was critical of the Trump administration and its mass deportation agenda.
“The award for most editing goes to CBS News,” Glaser joked.
“Yes. CBS News: America’s newest place to ‘See B.S. News.’”
