Allen, whose ex-partner Mia Farrow alleged in 1992 that he had sexually abused her then-7-year-old child, recalled on the latest episode of Bill Maher’s podcast, “Club Random,” that he directed Trump in a 1998 movie — and praised his performance.
“I’m one of the few people who can say he directed Trump,” noted Allen. “I directed Trump in … ‘Celebrity,’ and he was a pleasure to work with and a very good actor. He was very polite and hit his mark and did everything correctly and had a real flair for show business.”
“If he would let me direct him now that he’s president, I think I could do wonders,” he said.
Trump shared a Variety article Monday to show those comments off on social media, but apparently failed to listen to the actual podcast: Allen had clearly intoned the “now” in wishing he could direct Trump again, suggesting he’s no fan of the president’s policies.
Allen had even stated his position clearly moments prior, stating: “I’m not a Trumper.”
“Both good pals of Epstein,” wrote one user on X, formerly Twitter, with another person commenting: “This is real? Wow. His brain is going to mush. Or somehow he didn’t realize just how unpopular Woody Allen is now. Then again, he was good friends with Epstein.”
“I doubt this is real but given that Woody married his daughter it would be fitting,” wrote a third user in reference to Soon-Yi Previn, Farrow’s former adoptive child. Allen, now 89 years old, married Previn in 1997 when he was 62 and she was 27.
