Meghan Markle was accused of making a list of demands ahead of a possible UK return, but a source close to her has slammed the claims.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, has been at the center of speculation as royal fans are convinced she could return to the UK this summer. Meghan hasn’t set foot in the UK since September 2022, when she attended the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.
One of the demands Meghan was accused of making was insisting British people use her royal titles when addressing her.
However, a source close to Meghan shut down the claims, telling The Express it’s “a complete fabrication.”
“This is a complete fabrication. Nothing about it is true. No demands like this have ever been made,” the source insisted.
The original claims were made on royal expert Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack. The commentator claimed Meghan wanted to be in “total control” of the UK visit and alleged she had requested a “fleet of luxury cars” for the trip.
“This isn’t just protection. She’s asking for a fortress. Bulletproof glass at the Games, armed security everywhere she goes,” a source alleged to Shuter.
Security has long been an issue for both Harry and Meghan. The Duke of Sussex has been fighting for his police-funded security to be reinstated when he visits the UK after it was removed when he and Meghan left the royal family.
Harry, 41, has pointed to his security concerns as the primary reason for not bringing his family – including Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie – to the UK.
He has spoken out about his security concerns, saying in an interview last year that he would find it “impossible” to bring Meghan and their two children to the UK without being provided a security detail. He admitted it was “really quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland.”
Now, the Duke of Sussex is waiting for a decision to be made regarding the level of security he’s granted when in the UK as the Home Office has vowed to take a look at his case.
If Harry is granted the police protection, it would mean his children could reunite with their grandfather King Charles, who they haven’t seen since Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022.
