The track follows the recent releases of ‘She Did It Again’, a collaboration with Zara Larsson, and Chanel, which forms part of the album campaign for A*POP.
Is It Love combines dance-driven production with introspective lyrics, continuing Tyla’s approach of blending pop, Afrobeats and R&B influences. The song centres on themes of love, vulnerability and emotional connection.
The accompanying music video, directed by Aerin Moreno, portrays a deteriorating relationship through a series of visual metaphors. Set largely within an apartment, the video follows Tyla performing choreography as her surroundings gradually descend into chaos, with shattered glass and flooding reflecting the emotional tension of the narrative.
The single was first teased on Tyla’s social media platforms, including Instagram and TikTok, where preview clips generated significant engagement ahead of the release.
The song is the third official single from A*POP, an album Tyla has been gradually previewing over recent months. References to the project first appeared in the music video for Chanel, while the singer has continued to share details about the album through public appearances and interviews.
Speaking to Rolling Stone earlier this year, Tyla reflected on the creative process behind the project.
“I just knew that as I lived through the making of the album, it was going to fall into place, which it did. I feel like I just did something really fresh and so… Tyla.”
The release arrives during a busy period for the artist. Earlier this year, Tyla won her second Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance for Push 2 Start. She also received two awards at the American Music Awards, including Best Afrobeats Artist and Social Song of the Year for Chanel.
In addition, she has been nominated in the Video of the Year and Viewers’ Choice categories at the 2026 BET Awards, both for Chanel.
Beyond music, Tyla has continued to attract international attention through high-profile appearances in fashion and entertainment, including a widely discussed appearance at this year’s Met Gala.
The singer is also scheduled to perform at several major international events in the coming months. These include the Mawazine Festival in Morocco, Afro Nation Portugal, Beach, Please!, Montreux Jazz Festival and Hellawatt Festival.
Earlier this month, Tyla also participated in activities linked to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, performing South Africa’s national anthem during opening festivities in Mexico City and appearing alongside Future on the official World Cup song, Game Time, during celebrations in Los Angeles.
A*POP is expected to be released later this year.
