Tyra Banks, 52, just released her new music video for her holiday song “Santa SMiZE, Santa SMiZE,” and in true Tyra fashion, it’s colorful, bright, and chock full of bold fashion.
“I have a surprise for you! The ‘Santa SMiZE, Santa SMiZE’ music video is dropping,” she said in an Instagram Story early on Dec. 24. “It’s a family thing, watch it with your family. It is everything. It is crazy, it’s chaotic, it’s love, it’s kids, it’s ice cream, it’s Christmas!”
The music video features Santa SMiZE, the self-proclaimed “Queen of the South Pole,” rocking a highlighter-yellow ‘fit complete with a tulle jacket, yellow wig, Santa hat, and mini skirt, topped off with bright red velvet gloves.
Fans were loving the cheery video with one saying, “Yesssssss. Great visuals. The yellow pops!!” and another adding, “Yellow South Pole paradise!” While many enjoyed the “mad catchy bop,” others called out the use of what appears to be AI for some of the people and locations throughout the video. “Too much AI and Chroma,” said one, while a second shared concerns about “so much wasted water” from AI video production.
One day earlier, Banks performed her song at the legendary Abbey bar in West Hollywood, California. “Guess who brought the SMiZE to The Abbey?” the bar wrote on Instagram beside a video of Banks rocking the stage. “[Banks] as Santa SMiZE pulled us straight into the [ice cream] fantasy with a live performance that felt like a whole new kind of Christmas… The kind of holiday chaos we fully endorse.”
“Y’all can say whatever about her, but she knows how to put in the work! Love TYTY!” said one commenter. Another added, “Most amazing moment of my life meeting you @tyrabanks. MY FOREVER ICON!!!”
Banks has released many songs over the years, between her career as a legendary supermodel, the host of America’s Next Top Model, an author, an entrepreneur, and, most recently, the inventor of “hot ice cream” at her Sydney-based SMiZE & DREAM ice cream shop. Some of her biggest hits include 2007’s “Shake Ya Body,” 2016’s “Bootyful,” and “Be A Star” from her 2000 film Life-Size, also starring Lindsay Lohan.
