Valerie Bertinelli is calling out Megyn Kelly over her remarks regarding Jeffrey Epstein, but she’s doing it without even saying her name.
The former child star, 65, who rose to fame on the beloved sitcom One Day at a Time, took to social media to call out Kelly, a popular conservative commentator and Sirius XM host. Bertinelli posted a sweet black-and-white photo of herself at age 15.
In a recent episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly said that a source close to the case told her that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in his jail cell in 2019, “was not a pedophile.”
“He was into the barely legal type. Like, he liked 15-year-old girls,” Kelly shared, video of the program confirms. “And I realize this is disgusting. I’m definitely not trying to make an excuse for this. I’m just giving you facts, that he wasn’t into, like, 8-year-olds. But he liked the very young teen types that could pass for even younger than they were, but would look legal to a passerby.”
In response, Bertinelli spoke candidly in the caption of her photo.
“This picture was taken in 1975. I’m 15. I’m a child. I’m gonna say this a little louder for those in the back row. I’m FIFTEEN. I’M A CHILD. It doesn’t matter that I got a job. It doesn’t matter what I was doing. I was a child. Maybe we should flood the Internet with pictures of all of us at 15? #imfifteen#imachild,” she wrote.
Little House on the Prairie star Melissa Gilbert posted a similar throwback photo on her own Instagram page. However, she called out Kelly directly, Parade previously reported.
Bertinelli Has Found Healing
Bertinelli has been through a lot over the years and recently reflected on how far she’s come.
“Sometimes I forget how far I’ve actually been able to come in the last year and a half,” she shared in a video on her Instagram Stories while walking through New York City, PEOPLE reported.
“On these streets, I had some pretty horrible experiences, some mental, emotional beatdowns like I’ve never experienced before,” she recalled. “And it’s really a tribute to our brains and our hearts and our human bodies because it does, our bodies do hold trauma.”
Despite what she’s been through, she’s found tremendous peace. Talk therapy and EMDR have been particularly helpful for her healing.
“But to be able to walk on these streets and not feel what I felt then, I guess I’m getting better,” she continued.
